Welcome to the home of Ed FM!

A note from the author...

This project began in 1998 as an experiment and went on to form the submission for my Computer Science degree. I graduated in 1999 and since then, I have made very few updates to this software. We're now 10 years on, and there are several other software packages available both for free and for very little that can do the job of Ed FM 100 times better! Hence the information on this site remains here purely for legacy reasons. This software was coded in a time before Direct X, software mixing, MP3, 8 channel sound cards, and even 32-bit Windows! (Ok the last bit is a lie, but I only had access to a 16-bit compiler when I started work on it!)

I hope many people managed to make good use out of Ed FM over the last decade, I certainly racked up quite a few downloads and registrations in that time. If you're still using it then ... you're brave! I tried to use it for something myself recently and it really didn't get on very well with my M-Audio Delta 66 sound card. Still, the initial prototype required the installation of 2 separate sound cards, one of which was ISA! So maybe it's not that surprising.

How times have changed. Even the name (which started out as a joke) is somewhat dated in this world of DAB et al, where stations are now trying to get rid of the "FM" from their names. It was fun at the time, but now this is Ed FM going off-air!
