Arthurlie 2 Neilston 0 Super League Premier Division Saturday 9th Sep 2006

Arthurlie took the three points thanks to goals in either half from Joe Andrew and Ross Ballantyne and were it not for Brian Hewitt in the visiting goal it could have been a lot worse for Neilston.

A scrappy first half was lit up with Joe Andrew's goal on the half hour when he turned his marker on the edge of the box and curled a left foot shot past Hewitt low into the right hand corner of the net. Arthurlie had chances to increase the lead, most notably when Alan McFadden was sent through but Hewitt made a good save with his legs just before half time.

More of the same in the second half and little surprise when the lead was doubled. A great pass from Joe Andrew had Alan McFadden sprinting clear and he took the ball round Hewit but was fouled by Dennis Connaghan, to the strikers credit he stayed on his feet but his shot was blocked and the rebound fell to the on rushing Ross Ballantyne who fired high into the net.

Arthurlie were reduced to 10 men with just under ten minutes remaining when Paul Hilland picked up his second yellow card for a late challange, he had been booked earlier for dissent.

Arthurlie Evans, McCulloch, Williams, Fabiani, Wardle, Hilland, Ballantyne (Ferguson 80), Hughes, Andrew (Smith 70), McFarlane, McFadden (Bradford 65)
