Cambuslang 0 Arthurlie 3 OVD Scottish Cup 2ndround, Sat 5th Nov 2005

Arthurlie progressed to the third round of the OVD Scottish Cup thanks to three goals in the last 25 minutes against a spirited Cambuslang side. Stuart Allison returned to the side at the expense of Bonnar McKenzie as the manager went again with the in form Waddell and Hobbs up front. Hobbs looked lively early on but any chances that came 'lies way were the result of some poor defending form the home side. Chris Kerr should have done better when presented with a chance at the back post but he took too much time and the chance was lost, next up a 22 yard shot from Zander Ryan never troubled the keeper.

The best chance of the half fell to the wee Gers when a dangerous cross put McShane in trouble and his attempted clearance forced Robertson into a wonderful one handed save.

The home side took heart from the fact that Arthurlie were struggling to create any real chances and they made a couple of decent ones themselves as they grew in confidence. There was a great chance for Faulds when he found space in the box but Stuart Allison used all his experiance to force the striker into rushing his shot which was easily held by Robertson. Frank Lynch decided to freshen things up when he swapped Hobbs and Waddell for McKenzie and Rhodden and the move paid dividends inside 5 minutes when Rhodden was up ended in the box and Gary Wilson smashed home the spot kick. With the chance of a shock gone Arthurlie at last started playing some football and it produced a further 2 goals. First up McKenzie saw his shot beat the keeper but with the defenders rushing back to clear, Martin McGarvey was on hand to slam home from close range. Bonnar McKenzie was not to be denied and he made it 3-0 when his deflected shot left the keeper stranded.
