Eco Himal provides medical support, in cooperation with the Italian Committee EV-K2-CNR

Patients at Tshome - photo by Patrizia Broggi Tshome is a village which lies in the Changtang, the great Northern Tibetan plateau at 4800m altitude. In 1999 Eco Himal built a small hospital in the village. Thanks to the commitment of its director, Dr. Namkha, the hospital is working perfectly, and is very popular among the local people of the area. Medicines are still needed.

The local primary school is already supported by Eco Himal (for building maintenance, teaching materials and chuba) and there is now a request for a health clinic to be attached to the school.

Doctor Namkha - photo by Patrizia Broggi The people of the village asked us to improve their health service. They already have medical assistance, provided by a "barefoot doctor". This doctor needs more medicines and a room in which to practice and to put supplies and the pharmacy. The village has already chosen a house at the centre of the village and close to the school where it proposes to locate the medical practice.
