Blackstones U18's 2 v Soham U18's 2
Thursday 24/07/08
Soham had to come from behind to earn a draw against enthusiastic
and tough opponents, in a game that was held up for 20 minutes
at half time following an accidental injury to the Stones keeper.
Rangers started slowly and sloppy defending allowed the home
side a two goal lead within 20 minutes. Gradually the Greens
took control with Jake Fuller and Ollie Drake prominent in midfield.
It was Fuller who pulled one back for the visitors on the half
hour with a well struck shot from the edge of box and almost
immediately Drake headed over from Carmen's cross. Soham’s
best move involved a dynamic run down the right from Drake,
whose final cut back somehow could not be turned in by either
Riches or Carmen.
Within minutes of the re-start Cook flicked on Sterna's throw
and Carmen eluded two defenders to drive home the equaliser.
Rangers dominated the rest of the period but the Stones were
always dangerous on the break and twice Chamberlain was called
upon to make top draw saves. Both sides hit the post, with Stevens’
clever flick being the effort for Soham.
Overall a good work out and on the overall balance of play the
draw was a fair result. Good individual displays from Jake Fuller
and Jamie Chamberlain
