un-defeated. The competition was a league format and Linby led the way until
their final game of the tournament against Aston Villa. Linby were 3 points
ahead and having to not loose their last game to seal the winners spot. Aston
Villa had other ideas as they won the game 2-0 and though they were on the same
points they won the tournament on goal difference. The girls from Linby were
outstanding and can look forward to an exciting season ahead.

Linby's Under 10's unbeaten won
the Notts Girls and Ladies Football League 5 a-side tournament.
Peter Shilton
becomes Linby's club patron.

England and Nottingham Forest
goalkeeping legend, Peter Shilton has became Linby's club patron. It's a real
coup for the club to attract such a big name as Shilton, who is England's most
capped international, having played for his country no fewer than 125 times. He
was also an integral part of Brian Clough's legendary Forest side that won the
European cup. Peter showed great interest in Linby's history and at the
tremendous growth of girls football. Peter himself was instrumental in forming a
boys club in Leicester and appreciated the hard work that is involved in running
a well organised club. He was delighted to become Linby's patron as he wished to
put something back into grass-roots football. Andrew (club chairman) said
"we are over the moon to have Peter as our patron because his support will
not only raise the profile of our club but also girls football in general. Linby
who are in their eighth year, have become one of the largest girls football
clubs in Nottinghamshire and they boast around 130 members and run 7 teams from
under 9's to under 16's.
