Season 2000—2001
This season saw the club explode with over 60 girls registered to the club
and running 5 teams. The Under 10’s improved with every game leaving it to the
last game to seal their first win at home to Sandiacre thanks to goals from
Rhiannon Simpson and Charlotte Husselbee. The Under 12’s Blue had a difficult
season only winning 2 games and staying off the bottom with 8 points. The girls
went on to win the Ashfield Tournament for the second time. Newly formed Under
12’s Yellow had a good first season with 3 draws and 4 wins beating Hucknall
Rolls, W Bridgford (2)and Pegasus. Last season’s under 13’s this seasons
under 14’s won the Y.E.L Sportsmanship award for the second time after a
difficult season Linby’s Under 17’s joined the Notts Youth league and played
11-a-side football. The girls where a credit to the club by playing to the final
whistle of the season, throughout what was a difficult season (goal difference
of –299) They got their reward by being presented with the Notts Youth League
Sportsmanship award. Throughout the year 2000 Linby worked hard to get all their
coaches qualified to J.TM and having in place codes of conduct and child
protection policies. In February 2001 Linby Ladies F.C were presented with the
FA Charter Standard award from England and Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp .Linby’s
Presentation evening was held at the Royal British Legion were 90 trophies were
presented with special guest Bob Taylor who later was to retire from the club.
The Millennium Shield was kindly donated by Jim and Sue Cheetham and was
presented to Dave Peberdy for his contribution to the club. Off the field saw
the club take up ice skating for a night and party the night away at their
Christmas Disco. Club tracksuits were issued to all club members.
