Board 1: JOIN AN EXISTING CLUB?

The Leeds Chess Association consists of  six Clubs. These are distinguished by location, size and personality.  Two - Rose Forgrove and Copperworks - were originally based on industrial companies, but those associations have vanished over time.

Play is normally on Wednesday evenings, though some Clubs also field teams in the Yorkshire League on Saturdays.

To join in you would normally make a choice of Club - the Clubs page gives details - and take it from there. But there are also individual tournaments - see Tourneys - that you could, in principle, enter without being a Club member, if you only wanted a few games in a season.

Board 2: PREFER SOMETHING DIFFERENT?

Thanks to the internet it is now  easier to contact people with similar tastes.

YOU could get in touch and let me know what kind of over-the-board chess YOU like. Perhaps a Leeds weekend Rapidplay tournament? Perhaps friendly games with others in the home or local pub?   Perhaps you are a woman who would like to play if only there were other women playing as well?  Perhaps you are in a high powered business and  would love the fun of an end-of-the-week match against a team from another company? (Great for team spirit and stress-release!) Perhaps...?

Think on’t!  Say what you think would make Leeds chess suit you. If a few have the same idea, it may lead to something new.
