BEST SCHOOLS IN LEEDS

Well, we may be a little biased. Why should a school that has a Chess team be better than the rest?

  • It shows they are not narrow and bound to the National Curriculum.
  • It shows that they have keen teachers who will go that much further.
  • We know that Chess helps any child to think ahead to the consequences of her or his actions. This is vital in life and yet is not taught in class.

So here is our list of the BEST PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN THE AREA

The Alcuin School, Chapel Allerton LS7

Churwell Primary School, Churwell LS27

Froebelian School, Horsforth, LS18

Richmond House School, North Headingley, LS16

Pool Primary School, Pool-in-Wharfedale, LS21

Gildersome Primary School, Gildersome, LS27

Lofthouse Gate Primary School, Wakefield, WF3

Hugh Gaitskill Primary School, Beeston, LS11

And here is our list of the BEST SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN THE AREA

Leeds Grammar School, Leeds LS17

Abbey Grange School, Leeds LS16

Woodhouse Grove School, Apperley Bridge BD10

Personal Testimony. I am sure that my years in the School Chess Team taught me as much as school itself, and contributed to my getting a Scholarship to Oxford University. I was in the same college as another Scholar from a school Chess team that I had played regularly! - Dylan Morgan
