OSCARS is St John’s Community Church’s "Out of School CAre" club. It opened in 1999, runs before and after school each day in term time, and full days during some staff training days and school holidays.
Our aim is to provide a safe, happy environment where children can be cared for while their parents are at work, studying or training. We look after children aged 3 – 11, and provide a wide variety of activities to suit all ages and abilities. Crafts, construction toys, electronic games, imaginative play, sports, card games, books, cookery, music and dance … the choice is theirs! We use the church hall for the more vigorous physical activities whilst the large meeting room, and other carpeted rooms with child sized tables and chairs, may be used for for more gentile activities depending on the child's age and choice.
Our main contact is with Holly Grove Primary School. We run a "Walking Bus" between the church and the school. And during full-day opening we can take children from other primary schools (when getting them to and from school is not an issue). Currently we welcome children who attend Gentleshaw, Highfields, Chase Terrace and Boney Hay schools.
During holidays some outings are arranged for the children. The club is of course registered, with qualified staff and Ofsted inspection. Opening hours 7.30am-9.00am and 3.30-6.00pm. School holidays 7.30-6.00pm
For more information email the Parish Office or telephone the church on 01543 670078.
You are very welcome to visit us any time!
