Half-Yearly AGM

To be held at St. Andrew's Church Hall, Frimley Green
Friday 14th October 2005 at 8.00 p.m.

Speaker: Jenny Rickard
Local Development Officer, SHBC

Members attend free. Join on the night: £1 per household per year

All residents of the three villages are invited to attend, listen to our Guest Speaker present our council’s view on future development in our three villages and, in the Open Forum, meet your new MP – Michael Gove - County and Local Councillors in order to put your questions and concerns.

REPRESENTATIVES FROM LAKESIDE CLUB, WHARF ROAD, WILL BE AT THE MEETING TO EXPLAIN THEIR PLANS TO OPEN A CASINO AND TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. YOUR VIEWS ARE IMPORTANT. PLEASE ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO JOIN ON THE NIGHT IN ORDER TO HAVE THEIR QUESTIONS ANSWERED.

At our Annual General Meeting in May, our guest speaker was Ken Clark, Local Historian, who gave an entertaining and humorous talk, which everyone enjoyed enormously.

Questions put by our members in the Open Forum covered diverse topics: the proposed new building in Salisbury Terrace; potential new junction onto the A331 at Coleford Bridge Road; plans for the site at Cheswycks School; new flight paths - Farnborough Airport; 24 hour drinking licenses; the surface deterioration, Frimley Green Road; overhanging vegetation and hedges, especially leylandii.

Whilst this is a flavour of the last meeting, you may have questions or concerns about: what will become of the site of Burrow Hill School, St. Catherine’s Road? The traffic calming in Deepcut (which is part of the 106 Agreement) will be installed soon. Will the design of the Dettingen Park roundabouts now be scrutinised, as they seem to provoke a worrying number of accidents and ‘road sport’? Should we now focus on Lake Road/Wharf Road and the unacceptable number of accidents logged? Concern about the extension of opening times at the Miners Arms, Mytchett.

The Society has a remit to try to enhance the environment of the three villages and, to that end, we work closely with the Police and the Local and County Councils to encourage them to look at the area as a whole and to consider schools, doctors, the hospital and local roads in their initiatives and not rush to fill every green space with new houses.

Thank you for supporting the Society .. .. .. The more members we have, the more influence we have!

May we remind you that Subscriptions are now due for renewal. It is just £1.00 per year per household
