Annual General Meeting

To be held at St. Andrew's Church Hall, Frimley Green
Friday 29th May 2005 at 8.00 p.m.

Speaker: Ken Clarke
Local Historian

Members attend free. Join on the night: £1 per household per year

All residents of the three villages are invited to attend, meet our MP - Nick Hawkins - and Local Councillors to put their questions and concerns in an Open Forum.

At our Half-Yearly Meeting in October, our guest speaker was Martin Goad, Surrey Fire & Rescue Service Borough Manager, who gave an entertaining and informative talk on fire safety in the home, which everyone enjoyed enormously.

Questions put by our members in the Open Forum regarding the local roads and infrastructure - particularly the delay installing the traffic safety system in Deepcut Bridge Road, Deepcut. Members also questioned whether a camera could be installed in Lake Road, Deepcut, as part of the scheme, to overcome the problems of speed which they experience. The size and siting of the new roundabout at the Barratt development on Frimley Green Road, Frimley Green, raised concerns, especially as a sign had already been damaged by a passing lorry! The exits from the roundabout were felt to be too small - but we were assured by Martin Goad that they were sufficiently wide for Fire Engines. Fire Engines. There are concerns over noise from increased over flying aircraft and the widening of the approach channel to Farnborough Airfield. We are in contact with the manager of The Quays in respect of any problems which may arise. The Society worked hard with all concerned to help save the Mytchett post office, to no avail!

This is just a flavour of the last meeting; if you have any questions or concerns please come and put them at the meeting. If you would like to become a Committee Member, we require a new member for Deepcut and another for Mytchett.

The Society has a remit to try to enhance the environment of the three villages and, to that end, we work closely with the Police and the Local and County Councils to encourage them to look at the area as a whole and to consider schools, doctors, the hospital and local roads in their initiatives and not rush to fill every green space with new houses.

Thank you for supporting the Society .. .. .. The more members we have, the more influence we have!

May we remind you that Subscriptions are now due for renewal. It is just £1.00 per year per household

If you are not attending the meeting will you please drop your subscription into a Committee Member.
