THE GLENCROFT

this will be renamed Cobweb cottage, and I will decorate it in a shabby chic style

click here for the building progress

pictures will be added here once the house is finished and I will start to furnish it

Here is the first photo of a piece of furniture made specially for this little corner. I took the idea of the table from a full size cottage interiors book and resized some Victorian photos and prints to fit the frame.  The smallest frame is about 2cm. they are all jewellery findings bought from TeePee, then painted with acrylics, and washed with a dark ink to make them look like antiques. Isn't it just the quaintest corner

This is the bathroom ! the shelf looks wonky but it isn't

this is my fav room, love those nets

And a view of the whole lot

Below are some pictures of the rooms furnished, the house has most of it main bits of furniture.

BEDROOM - some more personal touches to go in this room include, quilting the bedspread, hanging a patchwork quilt on the wall next to the bed, stitching a rug for the floor, making a dried flower display for the fireplace, a cushion seat and cushions for the window seat, blankets folded up under the window seat, filling the sewing basket with supplies and filling the hole next to the fire with supplies or something pretty

this has a wobbly leg, so I thought the newspaper to stop it wobbling just added to the country cottage feel

THE BATHROOM - extras that are needed in this room are, a towel draped over the bath, supplies of toiletries to be kept in the cardboard box, next to the loo, fresh towels in the wicker basket, an ironing board and iron next to the basket of washing, flannels, tooth things and soap on the sink, a mirror above the sink, pretty things folded up on the chair, a few more personal possessions on the shelf, a rug or two, a washstand and possibly a wicker chair in here !

I tried a couple of layouts

this is the layout I prefer, the main piece of furniture in here to get is a wash stand to go under the far window

this is shot with the bath in the corner again

The Crysnbon set has been painted, as well as the chair and the bare wood drawers

Could do with a few personal effects on the shelf I think

THE KITCHEN - I have a fair bit to add in here too, have to fill the pantry first or we'll all starve. some cookery books on the teapot book stand on the windowsill, some pans and utensils hanging from the brickwork  and beams behind the oven, washing up liquid bottle on the sink, more personal effects on the dresser, little things like a  bunch of keys, a shopping list, tiny ornaments. I am looking for another table, I want a small one with a slatted shelf underneath, the bench will have a throw over the back more cushions and a cushioned seat pad, a teatowel over the sink, and some folded up on the stool, a pan to go with the brush and a small fridge

LIVING ROOM - little extras in this room include, building a fire and fire grate, I have the flickering bulbs just need to

add the logs etc, a nice picture above the fireplace would look great, a tiffany lampshade for the table lamp in the corner, a few more cushions

on the sofa, fill the shelves next to the fireplace, I have ornaments to go in there and books too, a couple more things on the mantelpiece, as

well as put a picture in the frame on there. I plan to add a few more personal bits to the desk, a cushion on the chair, and fill the book case up,

more ornaments and books

desk view, many more items, to be added here, especially little 'what nots' in all the drawers. The picture is a picture of my kids they were 1, 3 and 6, they are now 14, 16 and 19

this chair is my most favourite piece of furniture, I love the captains chair. I snapped it up for £6 at a little local dollshouse fair, it is so fine and delicate

Here you can see the carpet I stitched over 9 months I stitched countless different carpets and nothing looked right until I found this one. This is a good view of it in situ !

I had two little dogs come to visit Cobweb Cottage, they had flown all the way over from the US from http://kerripajutee.com/  who had

made them for my mum, modelled on her champion Maltese Hershey  http://www.users.totalise.co.uk/~showdogs/lafford.html you

can see the real him languishing on some cushions here http://www.users.totalise.co.uk/~showdogs/lafford.html and in the show ring here. anyway these

two little doggies were very good when they came to visit, they had a little run in the garden, had a drink of water in the kitchen, where they also had a

tidbit of some chicken left overs. they then came and warmed them selves by the fire and when it was bedtime slept on the bed upstairs.

They are spectacular, the work that has gone into them is amazing and they even have little black paws

The garden will also be populated with plants as time goes by, the gardener has been in for a little bit, but had to go home when he ran out of plants to pot up. I will call him back as soon as we have had a trip to the nursery on the village green !

the plans I have in store for the garden is much more plants and flowers, I want lots of English garden flowers hollyhocks, Hydrangeas, more roses, more lilies. some weeds, daises and dandelions. I am going to put a tap round the kitchen wall side, I have a little stone trough and will make a little water garden in there. I need to make the trees look as thought they have leaves. we will have lots and lots of wildlife, birds, snails, butterflies, rabbits more chickens, maybe a fox peeping out somewhere. I have a pony who will be tethered to the side of the house, munching on the basket of apples, hope he doesn't get tummyache. The stone steps need to be made, more plants in the pots, strawberries in the strawberry pot, and hundreds of individual ivy leaves to cut and stick on the vine growing up the chimney on the front. chimney pots to blacken up and reattach the weather vane to the roof

The Gardener had some free time and had stocked up on plants from the nursery so he came down and did a little gardening

Welcome to Cobweb Cottage
