Extreme Makeovers

from this ....to this...

It was my birthday the other day and my mum and dad had brought my a box full of minis, lucky me !! in the box was this wardrobe (empty of course) I spent a nice afternoon filling it with various bits of  fabric and stuff, so now I have a well stocked linen cupboard, blankets for those cold nights, lacy pillow slips and clean sheets straight of the washing line.

I bought this silk chair on ebay for about £4, it was exactly like a leather an wooden chair I had seen in a painting, see below  I ripped the silk off and used those as templates for the leather, glued it on added brass buttons and hey presto. I tried to age the leather by rubbing it with sandpaper, but the underneath is very bright red so I left it. I could try rubbing some shoe dark polish in

This was another ebay find, didn't like the floral fabric one bit, I bought two different sizes, so off that came, the seats were replaced with big squishy cushions, and the rest was shabby chic'ed in old roses and checks

here are two del prado doll, didn't like them very much, so I thought I would have a go at improving them.... still don't like them very much. plus I don't really do dolls so these two girls went to a new home

see some more dolls below I have stripped and redressed

1940's evacuee, Freda with her gas mask box, poor little love, hasn't got any shoes

the Gypsy doll, I tried to make a flouncey skirt to introduce an illusion of movement, but the thing (the doll) didn't have any soul (unlike Freda0 who came to life straight away !!!

another 1940's child and mother, unfortunately it looks like the mother had no soul either ! but I was quite pleased with both of their 40's hairstyles

A very early attempt at a sofa (Mary Englebriet style) I made this out of card
