Building Cobweb Cottage |
The start - originally the fire was going to go on the right hand side up behind the fireplace, you can see the card template next to the fireplace template. There will be a little garden at the side |
But to save space, I decided to put the stairs in the middle, thereby making an under stairs cupboard for the kitchen (pokey nooks and crannies already taking shape) |
I am quite proud of these stairs, they were made from card, as I couldn't fit any stairs that would be slim enough for a tiny cottage (have any of you ever walked up stairs in one of these old cottages, they used to fit stairs in anywhere) |
Here is a view with the dividing wall in place |
Here are the ceiling beams for the kitchen and downstairs room |
The finished kitchen before the next floor goes on.Note the 'knocked out' chimney breast, this is where the Aga is going |
Here is the living room ready for the fireplace. |
The next floor ready for the walls, note the wood filling. My hand is not very steady with a saw, but old cottages are generally wonky with lots of drafts so, it all adds to the realism !! |
The bedroom and bathroom before the landing walls go in. Fireplaces installed and landing bannisters. |
View inside the bedroom, more lovely pokey corners. |
View of bathroom, note 'boxed in' pipes, and the cupboard under the stairs houses the immersion heater. |
You can see the immersion heater through the open door, and the fake stairs go up around the back of the landing into the attic. |
This is the finished 4 rooms, its the attics turn next. |
The roof has been attached. |
Here is the finished attic, with resident fairy. The door does not open. |
This is the two front panels before they are attached. now the garden needs to be worked on and the thatched roof |
