RULES AND CONSTITUTION.
This organization shall be known as SKEWEN ANGLING CLUB.
The object of the club is to promote all forms of angling.
The officers of the club shall be CHAIRMAN, SECRETARY, MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY, and TREASURER. Five persons, including officers shall constitute a quorum at club meetings. The Officers shall be elected for a period of five years, and only opposed after this time or at an EGM.
The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the club shall take place in January each year. All nominations and proposals shall be in the hands of the secretary 21 days before the meeting. 28 days notice of the meeting to be given to all members.
At the first meeting after the AGM, the committee shall appoint a Vice Chairman and a Vice Secretary from within.
The secretary and Treasurer shall collect monies on behalf of the club, and record same. An annual balance sheet shall be presented to the AGM.
The committee shall have the power to refuse or limit membership as it deems fit.
On written request of ten (10) members, the secretary shall call an EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING, with all members having 14 days notice of the meeting, and the postage paid by the requestor.
Any alterations of the club rules and constitution shall take place only at the AGM, or a EGM
The committee shall have the power to co-opt senior and junior members as it deems necessary.
It shall be incumbent upon all members to :- Protect the environment at all times, remove any litter from their place of fishing, report any instances of pollution to the club and EA.
Any club member who:- Contravenes any club rule. Contravenes any rule of a water on which he is fishing. Commits willful damage to property. Resorts to any illegal method of fishing, Shall be answerable to the committee.
The committee is empowered to look into the conduct of any member who is accused of any of the above offences, and in the event of such being proved, to inflict a fine, suspension, or expulsion as it deems fit.
All club members shall produce their permit when asked to do so by any club member, bailiff, or official of any water on which they are fishing.
Any club member caught fishing club waters out of season may be automatically expelled.
Membership cards are not transferable.
Any club member who accepts office in any other club shall inform the committee in writing immediately.
No member shall do anything detrimental to the club.
No person shall become a member without first obtaining an E.A. license.
As and when required, a match fishing section shall be formed within the club, with a secretary and captain appointed by the committee. Both these officers will make their own arrangements for matches, but will abide by all club rules.
The decision of the committee shall be final in all matters covered by these rules and any other by-laws in force, and the committee shall have the power to deal with any matter not so covered.
The season for angling shall be as stipulated by the E.A., unless by-laws allow for a change when the committee shall set a season.
No member shall remove any fish from any club waters, unless they have written consent from the current committee.
Exceptionally large fish should not be retained in a keepnet, but should be weighed, witnessed, and returned as soon as possible.
All members shall clean their pegs before and after fishing.
persons under the age of 16 years on April 1st each year shall be considered a junior for that year.
Adult members are to be responsible for juniors in all club activities, and shall give assistance to novice anglers wherever possible.
No member shall negotiate the fishing rights on any water for the club without the clubs prior written consent.
No bloodworm to be taken on to any club waters.
A maximum of three rods to be used on The Tennant canal and Square pond, and two rods on all other club waters. The appropriate EA licenses shall be carried. Rods are not to be left unattended, and the two outer most butts are to be a maximum of 3m apart.
Any person found tampering with safety equipment will be banned, and may be reported to the authorities.

Pike anglers shall adhere to the following guidelines; Balanced tackle to be used, with a minimum line of 12lb b.s. and wire trace with no more than two treble hooks. Humane unhooking equipment, i.e. forceps, plus a suitably sized landing net must be used. Gaffs are strictly banned! ALL PIKE MUST BE PUBLICISED AS BEING CAUGHT FROM A PRIVATE WATER.
Carp and Pike anglers must use an unhooking mat where appropriate.
Junior members under the age of 12yrs must be accompanied by an adult when fishing club waters.
Specimen fish must be weighed and witnessed by a club official to be eligible for club trophies.
Peanuts are banned from all club waters.
