GB3KE - BEARSDEN, GLASGOW
GB3KE - Kessington - No contribution experimental 2 meter repeater located in Bearsden near Glasgow.
Frequency 145.6875. Access using 1750Hz tone or 103.5Hz CTCSS. CTCSS tone of the same frequency is transmitted with all through audio but is muted during normal ID beaconing. For example, if a receiever has CTCSS encode AND decode enabled then only through audio will be heard. If using older or PMR convertion equipment which is not fitted with CTCSS then look here for a simple circuit : http://www.rason.org/Projects/decoder/decoder.htm - despite the url it is an encoder
Project is very much under development, current transmitter output 2 watts and limited performance filtering will be upgraded, probably November 2006 at which time output power will be increased progressively to 14dBW ERP dependant upon receive performance. Additional filtering may still be necessary so please be patient. Also bear in mind that the system has narrow deviation (12.5kHz) and will sound quieter that older 25kHz devices. Distortion or clipping may be evident on speach peaks if wide deviation transmitters are used.
Sub-projects:-
Replacement 3 port controller ex MB7IKE gateway being configured for repeater control and internet access to gateway services. Improved kerchunck filtering employing speech detection tequniques in conjunction with normal tone access requirements. Input signal strength monitor to activate receive pre-amplifiers as appropriate. Investigation of voice activated gateway access to remove need for DTMF transmission from local user stations - primarily with mobile safety in mind.
My thanks to GM8LBC, Colin Dalziel (RMC), G3TXA, Rod Wilkinson (Ofcom) for their assistance in enabling my experiment. Remember to give your callsign when accessing repeaters.
