T-Bar Removal

Notes:

There are a number of reasons to remove the T-Bar; some people have been inspired by the model year 2000 MGF's speakers and have fitted their own into the Mk1 T-Bar. The alternative is of course, to purchase a model year 2000 T-Bar with the speakers already fitted as a replacement. Another reason is to replace it with one covered in leather. Lastly, removing the T-Bar is the first step in removing the hood.

Refitting is the reverse of the above. Things to note when refitting are as follows:

  • The trim clips comprise two parts. A male and a female. Occasionally they stay together in either the T-Bar or the mounting and need to be separated prior to re-fitting. The female part is a push fit component & the male part needs to slide onto its "button" mounting.

  • The T-Bar mounts onto an aluminium angle, which can have a sharp edge. Although the above instructions do not bring you into direct contact with this angle, it is worth being aware of it to prevent accidents.
