Please Note: This guide only covers UK Dealers, submissions for dealers outside the UK will not be included.

The primary function of the MG Dealer Guide is to use the experiences of other MGF owners to determine which MG Dealers offer a quality service to their customers. The standard of Dealer quality is measured in three key areas...

  • Car Sales - How well the sales team treat you.

  • Technical - Quality of servicing and other work carried out by the mechanics/technicians.

  • Other - All other staff you may come into contact with.

Have your Say...
Car Sales...
Choose one of the following statements which best describes your dealings with this Dealer's Car Sales department...

I've never used their car sales department.

Discourteous, unhelpful and only interested in pushing for a deal that suited them. Little evidence of being interested in what I wanted or asked for.
Car delivery/hand-over handled poorly - little more than doing the paperwork and driving away.

Polite but still more intent on making a deal that suited them.
Car delivery/hand-over basic - paperwork, show you around the car and controls before handing over the keys.

Helpful, polite and prepared to compromise to reach a deal/sale.
Car delivery/hand-over reasonable - Work through the paperwork, introduce you to your assigned MG Technician, explain the controls/features wishing you well as you drive away.

Friendly and helpful. Willing to listen, explain and ultimately come to a deal that suited both of us.
Car delivery/hand-over good - Paperwork including warranty etc. fully explained, introduced to MG Technician, given plenty of time to inspect the car, ask questions and have features/controls thoroughly demonstrated and explained before being given the keys with a smile and well- wishing handshake..

Very friendly and eager to help. Happy to sit back and listen to what I wanted, then explained the options open to me. No pressure to secure a deal there and then - just as willing to let me walk away and think about it.
Car delivery/hand-over excellent - All paperwork thoroughly explained and questions answered clearly. Introduced to your assigned MG Technician with plenty of time to inspect the car including extra requests (such as raising the car). Full and thorough instruction of ALL controls and features given before you are finally handed the keys with a smile and well- wishing handshake.

Technical...
Choose one of the following statements which best describes this Dealer's Technical (MG mechanics/workshop) department...

This dealer has never carried out any work on my car.

Technicians rarely or never available to speak to directly and when they are have little to say. Work carried out has been of a poor quality and/or work specified not done at all, this often requires the car to be returned for the same reasons at a later date. Other niggles like dirty finger prints etc. also evident.

Technicians normally available to speak directly, but are generally a little vague. Work carried out of a inconsistent quality, again this occasionally means a further visit for the same problem(s).

Technicians available to speak to as required and generally helpful. Work carried out is normally to a competent standard with little need to return again for the same problem(s) to be dealt with.

Technicians are friendly, helpful and willing to discuss problems with you directly and road test the car with you present if required. Work carried out is to a good standard and it's only necessary for a follow-up visit in unforeseen circumstances or where problems have been difficult to diagnose in the first place.

Technicians are friendly, very helpful and make a point of coming to speak to you directly. Work carried out is of a high standard with problems being fixed first time round and never requiring a follow-up visit.

Other...
Choose one of the following statements which best describes your dealings with any other people/departments at this Dealer...

I've only ever dealt with the Car Sale and Technical departments directly.

Service/reception desk staff etc. are slow to deal with you and quick to try and get rid of you. They are blunt, impolite and seem generally uninterested in helping. You end up feeling like just another number waiting to be processed and often end up waiting around to be dealt with while they busy themselves with something else.

Service/reception desk staff etc. tend to be slow at dealing with you and have little time for you when they do although they do try to be polite. Their idea of being helpful tends to be getting someone else more qualified to deal with you.

Service/reception desk staff etc. greet you politely and try and deal with you promptly. If they are unable to help you directly they will ask a colleague for advice.

Service/reception desk staff etc. greet you politely and tend to you as soon as they can. If they are unable to help directly they will ask a colleague for advice or pass you on to them after having first explained the situation on your behalf.

Service/reception desk staff etc. smile and greet you politely and tend to you as quickly as possible. They listen to what you have to say and query you where necessary before assessing the situation and trying to help. Again if they cannot help directly they'll pass you on to a more suitable colleague and explain to them what you need. If the colleague is otherwise engaged they may offer to fetch you a drink and/or direct you to the waiting area while they continue to attract their colleague.
