North York Moors CAM
Sunday 6th February 2000
Today's walk ( with work colleagues from BASF Wilton )
Chop Gate - Urra Moor - Clay Bank - Seave Green
We start with a steady climb up the track to William Beck Farm
looking back north-west to William Beck Farm and the northern end of Bilsdale before . . . .
. . . . emerging onto Black Intake on Nab End Moor
Not resting, just re-grouping !!
Looking west to Tripsdale from Nab End Moor . . . .
. . . . and back south towards Bilsdale East Moor
Cold Moor (top left) and Hasty Bank from Urra Moor
As we continued north on Urra Moor this section became very wet and boggy and one or two ended up with damp feet!!
As we near the end of the boggy section, Roseberry Topping comes into view on the horizon
The hamlet and farming community of Urra with Cold Moor and Hasty Bank beyond
Another view of Cold Moor and Hasty Bank from Urra Moor
We now join the Cleveland Way for about a mile and start the descent to Clay Bank (bottom right)
A last look north towards Roseberry Topping and Easby Moor from Carr Ridge
A last look at Hasty Bank from just above Clay Bank
We now head back southwards towards Urra
The quiet road from
Urra to the village of Seave Green
- the grass verges on this section were teeming with snowdrops, a sign of an early spring ?
Finally we reach our destination, the Buck Inn at Chop Gate, for an enjoyable pint!
