The grave of Anne
Bronte which lies in the old burial ground near St Mary's Church.
Anne, along with her sisters Charlotte and Emily, was a fine
writer and her two most famous publications were
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Agnes Grey. She went to
Scarborough from Haworth already dying of tuberculosis and,
after only a few days there, she passed away on May 28th, 1849

1914 Vickers
Pattern 13 Pdr Gun - raised by Scarborough Sub-Aqua Club and
local fishermen in 1982 from the wreck of SS Hornsund,
sunk by torpedo on 23rd September 1917, 2.5 miles south-east of
its present location

Scarborough
lighthouse was destroyed by German naval bombardment on 16th
December 1914
- it was rebuilt and opened on 23rd September 1931

Scarborough's most famous and prominent hotel - The Grand

The hillside (near
top right) is the result of a landslide which occurred in recent
years destroying a prominent hotel.
The path which can be seen traversing it is a continuation of the
Cleveland Way
which reaches its climax at Filey Brigg, seen in the very far
distance
