Amateur radio down the years at M1KTA
A potted history of my time in ham radio

My first call was M3KTA. I sat the RAE rapidly afterwards and obtained M1KTA in the April of 2003.

M1KTA operating QRP in the the grounds of Wimpole Hall near Cambridge 2004.
The station operated was M1KTA/P and consisted of an SG-2020 with a LDG Z11 ATU. The onlookers are Christine (my wife) and John Bonner G0GBP who took me through my foundation (M3KTA) in 2003.

Ham radio started for me with a Christmas present of a crystal radio kit given to me by my parents way back in 1976 and I borrowed a Russian made general coverage receiver from my dad shortly afterwards and this had me hooked. That first Christmas I was listening to DX commercial stations all about the globe and thinking about shortwave and QSL collecting for the first time.

My school years were spent as a boarder at Prior Park Prep in Cricklade and then St.Bonifaces College in Plymouth and I carried about those two early radios with me throughout. My interest faltered and after a 20 year break I returned to the hobby. This time with hiatus I had no idea how interesting amateur radio would be to me and how it would ... to be continued.
