I have high quality, full colour, QSL cards produced on a regular basis and whenever I do a special competion or from a new location again there is often a new card.

As I tend to not use a special call for any competitions I rely on the RSGB QSL bureau and the QSL manager usually for that reason.

During any operation, either at home or an IOTA, SOTA or other DX expedition when asked, I advise that QSL information could be found on this web site.

I believe that pre-publicity for any IOTA or DXpedition tends to be one of the reasons that operators found me on the air and very few on air contacts appear to ask for QSL information.

QSL requests received direct, I expect you would usually send a QSL card of your own please, will result in a direct response, subject to certain provisions.

Please note it can take me time to get cards produced and I often work away from home so there can be a delay but I will respond.

In order to receive a direct card:



Ensure that the QSO information on your card is clear and correct.



Enclose a good quality self-addressed envelope of sufficient size and strength for the number of return cards expected. No labels only please! Up to five QSOs can be confirmed on a single card.



I am becoming used to the standard of the use of International Reply Coupons (IRCs) to meet postage costs by airmail or surface mail as appropriate.

Loose UK stamps are also welcome. I can not use stamps or currency from other countries!

I have also started to notice that some send US dollars instead of IIRC.

One IRC or one US dollar will pay for return postage in Europe for up to two cards.

This amount will also cover surface mail outside Europe.

Two IRCs or two US dollars are needed to pay for airmail outside Europe for up to two cards.

Additional cards pro-rata. IRCs must be properly stamped.



Please do not send other currencies or cheques.

Applications received direct but without a self-addressed envelope, an envelope which is too small, or without sufficient return postage, will receive confirmations via the bureau.



Bureau Cards 

QSL requests received via the bureau will receive a return card via the bureau. Ensure that the QSO information on your card is clear and correct.

SWL Cards

I started off as an SWL and remember the enormous thrill getting QSL cards from amateurs on both sides of contacts. I will always QSL all correct SWL reports.

If you can as an SWL try and log three consecutive contacts on any band or mode. SWL QSL cards can be sent direct to the above address or via the bureau as shown above.

 

Online QSL Requests

In these days of internet technology I have had a few requests for cards via email. Cards will be sent via the bureau. Please ensure you enter the data accurately. I realise that most that do this are chasing an award and the wait of a QSL going through a bureau is what encourages this method. Please do send me a card as I am also chasing those awards.



QSO data error policy

We will respond 100%, as defined above, provided the QSO is correct in our log.



When the QSO is wrong in the log then the following approach will be taken. Ultimately the decision is mine.

 

Time in error by up to 10 minutes or, perhaps by an exact number of hours indicating logging occurred in something other than UTC

Callsign in our log is close (e.g. a dit "out" in CW) or similar sounding letters in SSB, etc.

Band is wrong but all other details are OK, suggesting logging typo (can occur! Although I tend to use automatic frequency logging)

Mode is wrong. This could be my fault! I check competition logs and the validated check logs I get back for consistency elsewhere and consider giving benefit of the doubt

 Do not QSL pending further information
