	STRING QUARTET no4 op78 1993 16 min. The Fourth String Quartet was written in 1993 at Keele (Staffordshire, UK). It is a two-movement composition: 1. Sostenuto, and 2. Con moto. It is based on the themes spelling the names of 6 different composers. The 1st movement is a musical self-portrait together with my wife, composer Elena Firsova. The 2nd movement is dedicated to my colleagues of a slightly older generation whom I respect very much: Edison Denisov, Alfred Schnittke, Arvo Paert and Sofia Gubaidulina. It was premiered on 2nd of December 2001 at the Recital Hall, RAM, London, by the Montague Quartet with Joe Harrop, Jessie Murphy, Emma Owens, and Oliver Coates. *Dmitri N. Темы квартета являются особым музыкальным прочтением имён шести композиторов, включая моё собственное, а также моей жены Елены Фирсовой (в первой части), Эдисона Денисова, Альфреда Шнитке, Арво Пярта и Софьи Губайдулиной (во второй). Первое исполнениесостоялось 2 декабря 2001 в камерном концертном зале Королевской Музыкальной Академии в Лондоне.
