Think It, Believe It, Do It - Suggest a Movie

Suggest a Book or Movie

TiBiDi uses a number of examples from books and movies. You can access a list of inspiring resources on the Resources page along with our comments.

However, this is a huge and very subjective area. What works for one person may be completely missed on the next.

We'd like to hear from you if you want to suggest title of Books or Movies of your own. If you can, please let us know the part of the movie that you think is relevant to the programme and what lesson it tells.

Please submit your suggestions to info@TiBiDi.info

Movie Listing

As you will have seen, movies play a great part in learning and in this subject there is plenty of scope for inspiring movies which make a great learning point.

I find the great thing about movies is that they appeal to both sexes (unlike some of the sporting analogies and examples) and that they can produce a talking point about further aspects from the movie.

I have listed the more inspiring sources in my TiBiDi Movie List below and have included my own personal comments for you to read. I will add to this list using your comments and those of my family and friends as we continue to watch TV, Videos & DVDs.

Please feel free to peruse the list, and more importantly, buy the movie yourself and see what you think. If you want to add your own recommendations, please write to us via the your TiBiDi section.

Where possible the movie titles link directly to Amazon.co.uk so that you can obtain the current competitive price.

My Comments

The Edge

Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin

Two men crash land in a frozen forest and are hunted by a bear. Hopkins leads a crash course in survival and uses vibrant VAK language examples in our clip.

Star Wars – The Empire Strikes Back

Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill

Luke Skywalker receives Jedi Training and wisdom from Yoda. In our clip he tells the difference between Do, Do Not and Try and underlines the value of Belief.

Bean – The ultimate disaster movie

Rowan Atkinson

An American Gallery is unveiling “Whistler's Mother” with the “help” of Mr Bean. The effect on Bean's host is traumatic but we see him adding a little too much story to the facts.

Gladiator

Russell Crowe

A Roman General is forced into slavery and becomes a gladiator to avenge the Emperor. Crowe's character exhibits visualisation techniques and is able to access stillness in the face of intense provocation from the Emperor.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Harrison Ford, Sean Connery

Indy shows a Leap of Faith (Belief) in his last few steps before accessing the Grail.

The Legend of Bagger Vance

Will Smith, Matt Damon

Will Smith shows his young caddie protégé the importance of finding his authentic swing .

City Slickers

Billy Crystal, Jack Palance

Three City boys decide to take a fantasy vacation to a country ranch. Palance advises Crystal on how to find the one thing that matters.

Dead Poets Society

Robin Williams

Carpe Diem – Seize the Day, Make your lives extraordinary! Watch the movie; there is so much in it.

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is just that little extra
