 Newall Green Farm, Wythenshawe

Newall Green Farm circa 1700 (but there is some debate about the date)

After WILLIAM SHENTON had married BETTY SWAN children soon came along. He had two sons William and Richard who married two sisters from Heald House Farm in Rusholme (MARY and CATHERINE BRUNT). The Brunts were also migrants from Derbyshire who were already related to the Shentons from another marriage in a previous generation.

William Shenton married Mary Brunt and settled at Peel Hall while Richard Shenton married Catherine Brunt and settled at Sharston Hall Farm. One of the children of Richard and Catherine Shenton (GEOFFREY SHENTON) eventually married and took over Newall Green Farm in the 1930s. He died two years ago (2003). The imposing and historical farm house is now deserted and is up for sale.
