"I
was listening your music on the net and I really like what you're doing."
- Publicist & Co Producer of Radio Show
"I
must say that Carimba has some great music. They have quality music which is
quite addicting. A nice blend of instruments which are recorded well for each
song. A definite variety of music to choose from as well. Good stuff!" -

is a very rhythmic band. The percussion builds a great groove. Nice fusion of
musical styles from Latin beats to Funk to Big Band. Their production values
are very clean and tight. Great bass work! Definitely recommended
listening!"

jazz!!! Masterful impressions....Excellent!"

"Now
this is some great chill out music. Carimba just lay out the smooth
grooves and take on a nice instrumental journey:) Very smooth
jazz!" -

"Carimba
sounds latin, but in the reality is very well blended jazz dance pop
music from Scotland. I have to admit: I am thinking to a good Scotch
Whisky... It's a compliment."

"I
like the bass theme on "Strutting for Jazz" and the the
trumpet as well. I am not an expert in jazz but in my eyes this combo
is worth to be checked!"

"If you like
Jazz, you'll love Carimba. A cross somewhere between King Crimson and
George Benson, I found myself really digging on the upright base.
Excellent rhythms and tastefull instrumentation make this band a real
pleasure to listen to. Scotland must be a grooving place, but
regardless of where Carimba is from they have the groove I like to
hear in a good Jazz band, and Carimba is one of the best."
- John Garza
"Well this is
one VR artist that needs no convincing about this great, stylish,
authentic Latin groove band. I have been enjoying the 'Brazilian
Groove' and other tracks from Carimba for quite some time. I first
came across it in Australia, then in Germany then in the UK. Every
website I ever visited - there were these guys grooving away before
me.. This is real party music. Carnival spirit. I grew up listening to
artists like Airto Moreira, Flora Purim and Hermeto Pascual, so I know
how authentic this sound is. But .. BIG BUTT .. These guys actually
don't come from some shady Brazilian beach resort .. They are
British!! No I take that back - they are even higher up the
evolutionary scale - They are Scottish - They like football and they
play great Brazilian Samba. Go boys."

"I have to get up
and find my dancing shoes! After listening to a collection of ECM style
productions today (which is nice and inspiring, donīt get me wrong) -
CARIMBA got me up with its tight, hypnotic merger of bass īn drum, dance
and fusion. Who could be even happier than me ? Just cats like Harald
Kuhn(Trp.), being invited to show up their skills on top of such
arrangements."

"Oh boy.....If
you really wanna jam and dance this is the right club to come to. The
music is just so exciting and very moving. The horns are making the track
stand out. Great job! Keep us jamming."

"Carimba is
definitely a ray of sunshine. It moves your heart without even wanting to,
and puts a smile on your face. A good fusion of jazz with brazilian
carnival touches and international flavour. The beat holds the entire
composition while each instrument goes off to its own end. Very
envogotrating, it is sure to put a good mark on a bleak day and to keep a
party going. Keep it coming, Carimba! "

"Carimba
brings an interesting concept to jazz that creates their
own extension of the music in an appropriate historical
context. They are hip and sound of today, but you can
hear that the musical dues have been paid too! Check out
all of their songs, particularly the "Brazilian
Groove" track, and you'll instantly hear what I
mean. They are also great people to interact with online
too! Keep up the great work, Carimba!!!"

"I
had a listen to "The Brazillian Groove," and it
has a great feel. The piano seemed to come out of
nowhere, to my delight. Then the vocals came with a
surprise. There is plenty in this track, and it is very
enjoyable. Great work guys!"

"A
double-bass, on which someone slapped his fingers until
they were sore, is hammering the beat through the song.
In any case it is a dancefloor-compatible jazztrack.
Samples and instruments complement one another superbly
at Carimba."

Magazine reviewing "Strutting For Chico"
"Listened
to several of yr traxs folks. Loved em. Can a man say
"Nicely fingered Horn work" in this day an age
an get away with it? I hope so. Excellent composition,
production, an all that. My only critisism is that where
you`ve used eloctronic beats (as far as Ive heard so far)
You dont USE them enuf. Few breaks/scratches/samples an
this would be in a whole new ballpark. Of course this has
been done before. Love to remix some of this stuff."

"Carimba
is some serious groove jazz rock from one of my favorite
places on Earth, Glasgow, Scotland. Just reading through
their influences gives you an idea of the depth of their
diversification. Listened to 'Harald's Jazz Haus' and
'The Mighty Quintete A Tete' - which gave me a great
sampling of their variety of rhythms and tones.
Compliments to Harald Kuhn and Carimba for creating a
truly unique sound. Thanks for the ride! "

"Favourite
track: The Brazilian Groove, with accoustic bass and a
very interesting arrangement, with lots of percussion,
and nice vocal samples. That's what happens when Scottish
musicians go for grooves like that - who would put a
rhythm guitar like that in a Brazilian Groove, but that's
what makes the difference. Can't get enough of it!"

The Brazilian Groove - Upbeat island-hopping Jazz tune
with a lively latino style and dynamic piano riffs.
Energetic! "

bold, clever and unique musical experiment.

"I'm
probably a bit old fashioned for not being a fan of
samples, but here it's done with so many ideas, embedded
in the compositions and so hard to tell which is which;
simply convincing!"

"Carimba

"Your
music sends wonderful chills up and down my spine. You
may have heard these lines over and out but I'm gonna
tell you again. It's a very spiritual feeling and I
really enjoy listening to your pieces. I don't think I
could compare to your expertise but music like yours
makes the effort all the worthwhile!"

"There
are some grooves (Strutting For Chico) that evoke
infinity, perhaps in the sense that you want them to go
on forever. This is one of those cases, with a spaced-out
sax line on top that makes for a hypnotic
experience."
- MP3.com Station

"I
visited your web site and downloaded your sample song
"The Brazilian Groove". GREAT MUSIC! I don't
think there is a human being on the planet who wouldn't
find their way to the dance floor when this song came on.
Really, really like your music. I was listening to the
song alone and I felt like leaving and finding a club
(here in Chicago) who might be playing your music.... the
sounds of dance & life."
