I have been developing technical documentation
since 1992, and finally branched out on my own during 2006 to set up my own company, e-Tech Authoring Limited. The range of documentation I have written since 1992, both prior to and since forming my company includes:
Technical and user manuals
I have researched, designed and written technical and user manuals
for systems as diverse as for a Formula 3000 data logger to an advanced
GPS-aided inertial navigation system; from a hand-held ruggedized
computer to a precision laser marking system.
The documentation I produce is always targeted carefully for the
intended audience, and write in clear English for the convenience
of those for whom English is not their first language.
Where possible, I include clear photographs or detailed line drawings to
help users understand the information more clearly.
For simplicity of use, I adopt a structured approach to document
development that allows users to find the information they need
quickly and easily. Their search is made even easier through the
extensive use of linked cross-references and hotspots within the electronic copies of manuals, or written cross-references in printed versions. As a result
of this approach, the documentation I write is so easy to navigate
and use that some clients use it as an alternative to a separate software
Help system - reducing their development time and costs significantly.

Training materials
e-Tech Authoring Limited can help to develop the materials
for your training courses through:
- Powerpoint presentation slides
- Hand-outs for participants
- A guide to provide a 'script' and background information
for presenters
I have developed courses for a wide range of purposes including:
- Company introduction courses for new employees so that they
can enjoy a friendly introduction to their new employer and the
products they'll be hearing about regularly
- Detailed technical courses for engineers who need to know how
to install, operate, maintain and repair complex systems
- Software training courses for users and administrators of complex,
networked applications
Again, all the materials I provide are researched, designed and
developed, with the client's full involvement, for an effective and efficient learning experience
for course participants.

Help systems
With software products becoming ever more complex, the need for
properly developed help systems is paramount.
e-Tech Authoring Limited have experience in developing context-sensitive
help systems for complex networked software. These systems have
included segregated user-level and administrator-level information, carefully targeted for the correct level of user ability.

Procedures
e-Tech Authoring uses a structured writing methodology, called Information Mapping, to create
detailed process descriptions and procedures.
By completing careful research, e-Tech Authoring ensures the procedures
are comprehensive and covers those important 'what if' scenarios that add significant
value to the end result.
