I have represented the division since 1989 and Sutton Rivacre Division before that. I have
been a member representing your interests since 1977 and now lead the County Council.
I have done my best to represent your wishes. Since we had elected a Labour Government, I
have been involved with the Labour Borough Council and the new Labour Government in
promoting new and innovatory approaches to meeting the needs of Cheshire and particularly
Ellesmere Port. We have now tremendous opportunity with the successful Private Finance
Initiative that will rebuild several schools and Refurbish others within the Town Centre.
In addition, and in partnership we have succeeded in our bid for an Education Action
Zone.
Last year, and increasingly this year, we have seen a major revival in service provision
with more money being made available to the Council to improve services from the
Government. We look at every opportunity to get extra money to fund new initiatives.
Progress on the Community Plan is going well, and Community Safety Partnerships are in
place to deal with Drugs, Crime and disorder in partnership with the Cheshire
Police. In transport too, we are on the verge of massive new investment in local
infrastructure. We have achieved a lot, a lot more needs to be done and I am committed to
