September 2008 saw the 900th Anniversary celebrations and the rebirth of
bellringing at St. Mary’s.
The two weeks of events in and around the Church began with the London Open
House Weekend when the Church and Tower were open to the public.
On the Wednesday of the second week we held a “Meet The Ringers” evening
that was attended by about forty people. Twenty five people signed the list as
being interested in learning to ring, although not all of them actually attended
our first practice in November. Most of those that did attend dropped out after
a few weeks, but we now have ten learners, some having joined us recently.
