Welcome to Ashford Museum

Housed in a 17th century grade II listed building, the museum is located close to Ashford town centre and features exhibits associated with Ashford's history.

The Museum holds its exhibits on two floors so there is plenty to see and learn about the town's past. The building itself is historic and is one of the best examples of a 17th century schoolhouse in the UK. It was designed and built in 1635 by Sir Norton Knatchbull to house Ashford Grammar School, the building still has original graffiti on the wainscoting from the children who attended the school, and niches where their books were placed. The Headmaster's and Usher's seats can also be seen at the museum.

Our 2008 exhibits include:

  • The Gurkhas

  • Ashford Peg Tiles

  • Ashford's Lost Businesses

  • Ashford's Development from the 18th to the 21st century

Lots of our other fascinating exhibits can be found on the  Exhibits page.

Opening Hours: Late March - Late October 10am-1pm Monday to Saturday.

Admission: FREE
