Ways you can help

  • Donations of artefacts   - The Museum collects material appropriate to the area encompassed by the Borough of Ashford with particular emphasis on the town itself. It's object is to collect and care for local historical artefacts and documents telling the story of the people of Ashford from earliest times to the present day. Please contact the Curator Alan Terry (01233 631511) fro further details on donating items or pop in to the Museum.
  • Donations, Fundraising, and Sponsorship - The Museum relies entirely on voluntary contributions and occasional grants. From time-to-time, companies and organisations sponsor specific Museum events or displays. Sponsorship can involve supporting a particular display or contributing to running costs. Any interested organisations who are keen to sponsor or support us in any way should contact the Treasure Chris Richards (01233 626502).
  • Join Ashford Borough Museum Society - Anyone is welcome to join the Museum Society. As part of your membership you can take part in our social activities such as the Summer Event, various talks, Christmas party and voting at. the AGM., and the organisation of the museum. Members are kept informed of all events  in a newsletter circulated twice a year. Membership fees are £7.50 for individuals, and £10 for families. For further membership information please contact the Treasurer Chris Richards at 13 The Weald, Ashford, Kent (01233 626502).
  • Become a Steward - If you have local historical knowledge or interest  you can help the museum by becoming a steward. Currently there is a team of approximately 50 stewards who normally work in pairs and do one or two 3-hour shifts per month. Training is provided.  Many of our current stewards have served for a long time and they find that as well as giving valuable service they enjoy the sociable atmosphere. Please contact Derek Duchemin (101233 500610)  for further details on how you can help, or pop in to the Museum and talk to the stewards on duty.
  • Other Voluntary Opportunities - Occasionally there are opportunities to help in other aspects of running the Museum or if you have specialist skills please contact the Curator Alan Terry (01233 631511).
