1st April

well today was a gorgeous day so i decided to finish the passenger rear end and wet flat everywhere and fill any imperfections

and seeing as the weather was good i decided it was time to see the new colour on the car

I also removed the drivers door and cut the lower 6 inches off as it too was condemned to rust

its all welded back together now and just needs a light skim of filler which i will do once the rain returns untill then im working on the body work getting it ready to paint every thing up to the bulk head and refit as much as possible on the interior

29th April

April hasn't been the best month for me by a mile, seems every thing i'm touching, doing is going horribly wrong

it started off well and I worked on the new nose cone area as I started to weld the lower front valance and fill and blend in the new shape

I then turned my attention to the door and refitted it all filled and welded up

after that I removed the bonnet and bonded the 2 skins together to make it more rigid

I then painted it black on the inside so it could be refitted and adjusted for final fit so I could then skim the outer skin with filler

while  the bonnet was off this also gave me the chance to remove the engine and paint the engine and the engine bay black with the top of the inner wings following the outer body colour and also blend in some of the removable parts from the engine to match the colour scheme all the way through the car

25th May

Well my plans to have the mustang in paint by the beginning of May have not come true.

Due to bad weather and other circumstances the total hours worked on the mustang add up to approx 10 hours!

The Bonnet and the front wings are now on there final skim of filler and ready to be blocked down with a guide coat.

The front valance has had the filler applied but has yet to be shaped . Because of the bad weather I turned my attention to other things, like the engine auxiliary parts, which have all be cleaned serviced and painted ready to be refitted once the filling and sanding is complete.

the carburetor was again stripped and sent off to be ultrasonically cleaned. I did this due to the fact that after the previous clean the carburetor would not work correctly with the main jet installed it would not run. remove the main jet and it would run correctly. This indicated that there was some varnish or residue in the main  tube and the only way to get to this is by using a special cleaning technique.

Here's some pictures of before and after.
