Happy New Year !

And to start the year of right I went and did some more work on rustang

today I've guide coated/filled/sanded the drivers side rear quarter & rear spoiler lip

also started on the passenger rear quarter and spoiler lip

removed the rear lower valance so I can weld some bolt holes up

and clean behind the valance and lower tank strap

also continued the headlamp conversion

10th January 2007

went up the workshop today as i was told i had to get the stang out the workshop due to work loads so to try and protect all the work ive done i coated the wings with some anti rust sealer

now that rustang is outside ive turned my attention to smaller parts of the car that i can do at home in my workshop

so i began by finishing the rear boot lid

a few pics of the stang outside awaiting transportation home

while i was waiting for the stang to come home i cut the lower 6 inches off the inside and outside of the passanger door as there as rust showing through and seeing as ive removed anywhere there was an sign of rust i thought i might as well do this.

so then the rear valance got the same treatment, down to bare metal and straighten the dents and filled and sealed

these then refitted to see how they aligned up

well its time i got a move on with this car as its begining to take too long and im getting bored with welding and bodywork

so this weekend, seeing as the weather was good i decided to finish stripping the paint from the roof

in total it took 8 hours to get all the paint off. there was a total of 9 different coats of paint and 9 different coulred primers !

also fitted the passenger door back on, to find that due to the fact most of the lower 6 inches of the door where rusty and i had to cut all the metal off and reshape a new door from sheet metal that my calculations where out by 4mm on the thickness of the outer skin causing the door to stick out when closed rather than being smooth to the rear quarter. this was simply sorted by bringing the rear quarter out to the same width as you will see from the pic

also decided it was time to fit clean the gutter on the boot so a non rubberized sealer was used which is now ready to accept paint
