BOOKS
This has to be described as a must have!
Helen Allingham's Cottage Homes Revisited is the result
of Annabel Watts' research into the locations of some of the cottages
and farmhouses painted by the Victorian artist, Helen Allingham.
It contains examples of painting alongside present-day photographs
of buildings in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Kent, Surrey, Middlesex,
Sussex, Gloustershire, Wiltshire and Devon.
The Book demonstrates that Allingham's sought-after
watercolours are an important record of the existence of these
simple country dwellings, instead of being purely imaginary and
only fit to be used as decoration for the proverbial chocolate
box.
The book is 96 pages in total and is beautifully and
profusely illustrated.
