ART DECO
This is a pretty
rare jug, Bellevue (Belle Vue) was a Zoological Garden that began
its life in the 1830's in Manchester England, it became a Mecca
of Family entertainment with Exotica Animals, rides, Dancing and
ll manner of leisure activities. Commemorative china is pretty
rare, so this pretty china jug, which is in excellent order is
a particularly nice find. It reads:
" Interior
of Monkey House Bellevue Gardens "
" A Present
From BelleVue Gardens"
The transfer design
depiction of the Monkey House is charming complete with monkeys,
their enclosure and spectators a great quirky piece. This will
date to about 1890/1900. Standing 2.5" high.
