Welcome to the DUNK’S family history web site, my name is Derrick Dunks and I have been researching the Dunk name and its variants for ten years and on these pages you will find the results of that research. I was born 7/7/1954 in Islington, London, England and at present live in Hertfordshire, England. My family as far as I have researched originate from Kent, England. I originally started researching my family to try and find out something about my Grandfather Edward Albert DUNKS whom I never met, he was born in Barnet, Hertfordshire, England in 1888, to this day I still know very little about him.
A great deal of the information on this site was acquired with the help of fellow researchers and members of the Kent.F.H.S of which I am a member myself and I would like to thank them for their help.
I have tried to make this site as interesting as possible to people researching the DUNK family and would be happy to correspond with or accept contributions from anyone researching the DUNK name.
You have probably noticed that my name is spelt with an S and yet I keep referring to the DUNK name, this is because we acquired the S in the early 1800‘s but I have also found my name spelt DUNKE, DUNCK, DUNK and DUNKS but for the purpose of this site I have restricted the spelling to DUNK and DUNKS.
Below is a photograph of hop pickers in Kent, some of them are identified as members of the DUNK family. 3rd from the right is Emily GARDINER who married James DUNK, fourth from the right is Ada Mercy DUNK who married William BEST, behind her is her son William.
