The Group.

PAD was set up as an organisation of volunteers that wanted to promote the safe use of motorcycles in the area, and as a gateway for the new rider into the world of two wheeling.
The volunteers have come from many walks of life, Police officers (and higher ranks), HGV drivers, teachers, labourers, disabled, Driving instructors, painters, and too many other professions to mention. But they all have one thing in common, they cared enough about motorcycling and riders to train as instructors and to be able to give something back for the years of enjoyment that they themselves had from motorcycling.
The group are not wage drawing and therefore the money that is collected is used solely for the upkeep of the bikes and any administration and rent charges, and the insurance and equipment. Running costs of machines is directly proportionate to the amount of hours training that is given and so is incidental.
........................................................................................
The group has fluctuated over the years as folk come and go for one reason and another, but the aim and drive still remains, and that is to get you there whether it is starting or improving, and to promote safety on the road.
Laws have changed somewhat as time passed, where a simple spin around the block got you the licence, to the now intricate system of CBT, lessons, theory test and hazard perception test, and finally the riding test for the full licence.
We have centres throughout the north staffs area where the DSA have approved the training for CBT, and mostly it is done on Sundays (am).
If you wish to visit the main centre at Weston Coyney or to come in for advice on a Sunday morning then see the map for directions, we are available from 09.00 - 11.30am, or you can ring Dave or Tony most times. Dave operates a 24 hour answer phone also; 01782 305208. We are always eager to help anyone that is interested in motorcycling, so don't be afraid to ask questions, we don't bite.
