Dungeness

Here I have fished Dungeness and Dengemarsh, basically either side of the Nuclear Power Station. The beach is steeply shelving and distance casting is not usually necessary. The best mark at Dungeness is right on the point. The easiest way to find the position is to line up the two lighthouses, when the closer one hides the other one you are there. Effective rigs here are one up, one down flappers, and wishbones. I have caught only Dabs here, but never blanked, using Lugworm bait. I caught my first fish from the Beach here, so it is pretty novice friendly.

Dengemarsh on the western side of the power station is also steeply shelving, but gets shallower the further west you go. A good mark to fish is in front of the diamond about 400 yards east of the end of the road. The road to Dengemarsh is very rough so take care. Here I have caught Dabs, Pouting, Whiting, Codling and Dogfish, using either 2 or 3 hook flappers and Lugworm baits.

A word of warning, there have been a lot of cars broken into here so take care.

Local tackle shops I have used are marsh1.gif (2574 bytes), 01303 873020 in Dymchurch and Dens in Hythe 01303 267053.
