There are several places in and around Deal to fish. The most obvious place to fish is from the pier. To get there just follow the road to the sea front and you can't miss the pier. There is a public car park nearby. There is a tackle shop on the pier approach, Channel Angling, where I bait and tips may be acquired. I have not yet fished the pier so cannot really say much about fishing it. I have to say that I have got my bait from Dover, as I have to pass that way to get to Deal.
There are several beaches along the coast to fish, the only place I have fished is along towards Sandwich, near the Chequers Inn. To get there just follow the coast road towards Sandwich, until you get to the Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club. Follow the track along side of the course, there are places to park along here. You have then to cross the the Golf Course to the beach. The beach here is a sloping shingle, on to sand. There is no real need to cast too far as the fish will come in quite close. I took my son fishing here and he caught his first ever Codling, and Whiting. I have caught Codling to 3 1/2lb, Whiting, Rockling and Sole. When the wind is strong from the south or south west fishing is not too bad here. As distance was not an issue here I have fished with 3 hook flappers , 2up/1down, with success. I also used pennel rigs to target the bigger fish. All baited with lug worm.

Here is the biggest codling I have caught here. The picture is stolen from Phil Whiting's Diary.Phil said there were not enough pictures of me with fish ;-) The other picture is my son Robert with his first Whiting caught at Deal.
