Brighton has several fishing marks. The most obvious is the Marina Breakwater, but also the beaches are also productive.
Most fishing I have done here has been at the Marina. It is easy to get to and park the car. You can fish the outside of both sides of the Breakwater, and part of the inside on the Eastern arm. Mostly I have fished the western arm, as it is easier to get to. Just park in the cinema car park and walk along. There is a steward who patrols regularly to collect the fees. It was £1.50 a rod. They are also a source of useful information. Night fishing is generally more productive here all year round. If the wind gets up at above force 5 fishing can be rather unpleasant, but if the wind is from the west, or south west you can fish the eastern arm and vice versa. As you can see from the photo there is a wide area for fishing and is very comfortable. Toilet facilities are available on the western arm. Here I have caught, Pouting, Whiting, Black Bream, Mackerel and Plaice. I have used standard 1 up 1 down rigs and wishbones here with success, using a variety of baits, lug, rag, mackerel, sand eels etc...
There is a tackle shop in the Marina, the Tackle Box (01273 696477), located next to McDonalds, I have also used Lagoon Bait and Tackle (01273 415879) in Portslade.
