Talk about targeted advertising...

Like many other internet news sites, Yahoo! News featured the story of the terrorist attempt to blow up passenger planes mid flight. Like many other internet news sites, they also have adverts on the same pages as the featured stories.

Unlike many other internet news sites however, their choice of advert left a lot to be desired - see the bottom right of the screenshot...

Look what the cat dragged in...

Imagine discovering a new species... that'd be something worth celebrating, surely?

In 1894, David Lyall (the lighthouse keeper on Stephens Island), found a bird that had been killed by his pet cat, Tibbles. He sent the bird off to be identified and after some investigation it was found to be a completely new and undiscovered species of wren.

Unfortunately Tibbles became rather too good at catching these small flightless birds, and, by the time the exciting news reached Mr Lyall, all the birds had been killed. The Stephens Island Wren is thought to be the only species wiped out by a single individual.
