"So You Thought You Might Like To Go To The Show" - Perfect Alibi

I have just seen the most awesome tribute band ever!

Perfect Alibi are a Pink Floyd tribute band that I've been meaning to see for a good few months now. Tonight they were playing at Mr Kyps, so my mate & I headed off to see what they were like - and we were completely blown away!

The band have been together for 15 years now, and it shows - the music is absolutely spot-on. The lead guitarist has captured Dave Gilmour's technique exactly - now I know why I play the drums, I could never hope to play a guitar as well as this! The rest of the band were equally as impressive, however - drums, guitars, keyboards, sax, and the vocalists... well, they were belting the tunes out!

Rob & I were right in front of the stage, no more than two feet away from the band, and I think we spent the best part of 2.5 hours with permanent grins stuck on our faces! It was a pleasure to see the band enjoying themselves as well, they all looked as if they were loving every minute of it.

Perfect Alibi

We're certainly going to see them again next time they're in Poole - they're even performing a special 15th anniversary gig in Southampton next month, so we're going to see if we can get to that, too!

More photos from the gig can be seen here.

Genesis - In The Cage

I've just got back from seeing a brilliant Genesis tribute band at Mr Kyps - In The Cage.

They were absolutely fantastic! Playing all the great Genesis tracks of the 70's (and a few from the 80's - mainly the Duke medley) they came on stage and entertained the audience with a solid 2.5 hour performance.

I seriously recommend them to anyone who likes Genesis - you may never get the chance to see the original group again, but these are certainly comparable. Check out their gig list to see if they're playing near you, you won't regret it.

You can see more of my photos here - sorry about the quality, they were taken on my mobile phone. I'll remember to take my camera next time!

Flib's Fridge!

Back in June, I went to Leeds to meet some friends I'd met on IRC. We stayed at a house belonging to a couple more friends, Daniel (Flibberdy) and Rie.

Now, although they've had meets before this was the first one I'd been to, so for a laugh I had some magnets made up with my face on, ready to dish out to anyone who wanted them. As our hosts, Flibberdy & Rie got one automatically (whether they wanted one or not!)

Fast forward to tonight... My mobile phone beeps, telling me I've received an MMS message from Flib. I open it to find the following picture attached - it seems they were bored so they decided to decorate their fridge with my magnet, adding their own special message to it:

Oh dear... DW was 'ere!

Very poetic... ;)

Journalism at its best!

Journalists are supposed to be impartial, but in George Bush's case, I suppose there's some leeway allowed - look at the newsflash... :)

New Webcam Page!

I'm using new software for my webcam... it's easier to configure than my old server software, and much more versatile.

I've also added a small screengrab to the menu on the right hand side of this page - it doesn't refresh that often, but you can click the image to get to the main webcam page and see the current image... If you have any problems with it, please let me know!
