Seeing the sights

I went to visit one of our suppliers in London today with Nigel (my department manager),so that I could see some of the products that I'm buying and selling, We were planning on getting a train originally, but in the end Nigel decided we would drive, so he made sure to grab his road map just in case we got lost.

Anyway, it wasn't until we were halfway there we realised his map was purely a map of Britain - it didn't show a close up view of London streets - but we were still reasonably confident we knew where we were going. We came off the M25 at junction 3, and headed for what we thought was the Blackwall Tunnel... until we came round a corner and saw this:

That's not a tunnel...

Yes, we'd taken a wrong turn and were heading across Tower Bridge! Still, at least we'd found a landmark we were familiar with!

Say "yes" more...

As you'd have seen in my last post, I've been reading Danny Wallace's "Join Me", the funniest book I've read in a very long time. Well, he's got a new book out - "Yes Man" - his own story of what happens when you answer "yes" to every question put to you...

The YES Man!!!

Danny is alone, in his pants, in his flat... He's not going anywhere. His friends have almost given up on him - what's the point in asking him down the pub when you know he's not going to come? But then, one day, he's sitting on a bus and a stranger says three words to him - "Say 'yes' more".

So Danny does - to everything, in fact. By saying yes, Danny finds himself winning £25,000... he becomes a minister... a peace activist... he travels the globe... and he gets to watch a crap play at the Edinburgh Festival - 3 times!!

It's the the funniest book I've read in... well, two weeks! Should you read it? Yes!

Join Me!

I'm reading a brilliantly funny book at the moment - it's called "Join Me" and it's written by Danny Wallace.

Join Me!

It all starts off innocently enough - at his great uncle's funeral in Switzerland, Danny finds out about a plan he had to set up a commune of like-minded people... sadly, he only managed to get three people to join him.

Back in London, Danny decides to do something about this, and sticks an advert in Loot! reading simply, "Join Me", along with the request for a passport sized photo. Not knowing quite what to expect, he soon gets a letter from his first Joinee and is pleasantly surprised... but it doesn't stop there. Soon, letter after letter is arriving, and Danny finds he's amassed a cult (sorry, collective) following... but what can he do with all these followers? That's when he came up with the idea of Random Acts Of Kindness...

It's not a cult, it's a collective...

It's by far the funniest book I've read in ages - I'm getting funny looks at work, as I find myself unable to stifle my laughter. It's also inspired me to do something I normally wouldn't do - I've joined! You can find out more on the Join Me website at www.join-me.co.uk.
