27 years in the making...

It may have taken most of my lifetime to achieve it, but this afternoon Wales took the Six Nations title in true style by winning every single match of the tournament - a Grand Slam victory!

Ireland took an early lead when Ronan O'Gara kicked a penalty, but Gavin Henson equalled with a stunning drop goal in the eleventh minute. Just five minutes later, Gethin Jenkins charged down an Irish clearance kick to score the first try for Wales and taking the lead.

Wales went on to win the match 32-20, giving them their first Grand Slam win since 1978. It was an absolute joy to watch, and as the teams stepped up to collect their winning medals, the crowd in the stadium burst into massive applause.

What I wouldn't give to be in Cardiff right now... ;)

80 minutes

That's all that separates Wales from a Grand Slam victory in the Six Nations. It would be their first since 1978!

They've just beaten Scotland 46-22 at Murrayfield. The first half was absolutely breathtaking - 38 points to Wales, with only 3 points on the board for Scotland. Ryan Jones scored the first try for Wales within four minutes of the start of the match, followed closely by a fantastic second try scored by Rhys Williams, who ran the entire length of the field unchallenged.

Scotland came back in the second half, scoring 19 points to make the game closer than it really was, but not before Rhys Williams had scored a second try giving Wales a 40 point lead at one point.

Now all we need to do is beat Ireland next week for the Grand Slam and Six Nations Title. However, Should Ireland beat us, we can still win the Six Nations provided we stay within a 25 point margin in the game. It should be good - next Saturday, 3.30pm!

Comic Relief!

Today is Red Nose Day, where people pay a pound for a red nose and basically do stupid things to raise money for charity. We had a Mufty Day at work (where people can wear normal clothes, not suits and ties and so on), and we raised £42 for the charity.

Wanting to get in the spirit of things, I not only wore red clothes, but I dyed my hair red, too... ;)

First Aid

My current First Aid at Work certificate runs out in a couple of weeks, so for the last two days I've been on a requalification course. It's a chance to keep my training up and qualification going for a further three years without having to redo the full, 4-day course.

Anyway, the good news is I passed again! I had a nice old bloke who'd fallen over some boxes, fracturing his ankle and bashing his nose on another box giving him a nosebleed. I sorted him out quite quickly, patching him up and sending him off to hospital, and the resuscitation and recovery position exercises were a doddle... I dunno why I was getting so worked up about it earlier in the day...!!!

You have to feel sorry for them...

My brother has been a lifelong Chelsea supporter, so it followed that as and when he had children, he would do his best to get them to support Chelsea too...

Adam & Lucy in their Chelsea caps!

Looks like it's working. ;)
