The history of our Old School
was launched at the Old Highburians Reunion on Sunday 17 April
2005.
And
this new page on the Rockingham Press website is devoted to Highbury
County -- so please use it, criticise it, contribute to it, or
whatever.
First
the book. Highbury County Revisited by Brian Boyle,
edited with additional material by David Perman, contains 160
pages. It also includes numerous photographs -- among them the
school's 1953 and 1964 panoramic photos -- reminiscences, biographies
and gossip. It is a real bargain at £9.95 and is only available
from Rockingham Press, 11 Musley Lane, Ware, Herts SG12 7EN.
When sending your cheque make sure you include your full name
and address, and please add £1.50 for postage and packaging in
the UK, £2.50 for postage to elsewhere in Europe and £5.00 for

THE
HIGHBURY STAFF PHOTOGRAPHS
As
they have proved so popular and attracted a number of Old Highburians
when put on this webside, here are two of the staff photos from
the book. First that of Summer 1953 -- Mr. R.J. ("Boggy") Marsh's
last term -- then a photograph of the expanded staff of 1957 with
the new Headmaster, Mr R.J. King:

This
class photograph was taken in September 1930 and sent to us by
Harvey Ormerod, resident in the Azores, who is almost our oldest-known
Old Boy, as he was at Highbury 1930 – 35. The teacher was D.C.
Leech, best known later in his career for producing the school
plays of the 1940s and 1950s.
