The
Albion Brass Consort was formed in 1987 as a collaboration of
some of the finest players from the main London music colleges.
Since then, they have become recognised as one of Britain’s
most talented and versatile brass ensembles. Their repertoire is
exciting and individual, covering five centuries from the
Renaissance to improvised jazz and newly commissioned works. |
|
The
ensemble made its name in the Royal Overseas League and John
Tunnell Trust competitions and participated in the prestigious
Park Lane Group recital series at the Purcell Room on London’s
South Bank. As well as undertaking a busy schedule of
concert recitals and school workshops, they have performed live
on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM and can be heard regularly on TV
playing the theme music for “Skinner and Baddiel Unplanned.” |
|
The
members of the Albion Brass Consort have become some of
Britain’s busiest and most in-demand musicians. When not
performing with the ABC they can often be seen working with The Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Glyndebourne Touring Opera,
Charleston Chasers, Piccadilly Dance Orchestra, Kenny Ball and
his Jazzmen, Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz Band and West End
Musicals. Apart from the UK, their schedules take them to
Europe, Asia, the Americas and Australasia. |
|
Coupled with their showmanship and sense of fun,
the Albion Brass Consort presents unique and entertaining
concerts which prove very popular among promoters and
audiences alike. |
