Mike Brydon
Mike began diving in 1994 whilst at the Royal Military College at Shrivenham. His basic dive training was conducted in the cold and murky waters of gravel pit no.12, South Cerney near Cirencester. Since then Mike has dived in the UK and The Netherlands and has also taken part in diving expeditions to the Mediterranean (Northern Sardinia), the Red Sea (Hurghada, Egypt). Mike, who qualified as a Dive leader in 2004, has taken part in both Poseidon Feenun 2004 and 2005. He is relishing the opportunity to be involved in the activities planned on in Catalina Quest 06 and hopes to be involved in similar diving activities in the future. |

Expedition Dive Location Feature: The second leg Doha to Colombo though shorter was equally as tiring, but also lightly loaded so again stretching out was the order of the day. All Expedition members were feeling an overdose of multimedia entertainment by this stage-after all there’s only so many vids you can watch continuously! The 3rd leg was uneventful one, and a long awaited snack was served during the hour long flight from Colombo to male. Then it happened – our advance party unbeknown to us had been battling for 2 days trying to get the double-booked live-aboard released but as late as 1600 the owner was promising a result. When the main party arrived at about 1830 the arrangement had fallen through so the airport café had 15 customers for about 2 hours while further negotiations took place to find accommodation for 1 or 2 nights and diving facilities until a suitable boat could be found. Eventually a fast boat appeared and we were treated to a 10 minute ride to Kurumba Resort. After the usual booking-in pleasantries we had a late evening meal, a shower and retired hurt but with anticipation. |
