Dive Location Feature: It was not altogether obvious where the wreck was located but after a cursory scan of the horizon the forepeak was located 10mtrs proud of the sea surface……. On descending we saw a wreck teeming with life as befits a high energy site. Even a porthole remained on the seabed; evidence that responsible diving had taken place at some time or other. The superstructure lay beside the main hull and to the East the shadow of another stricken vessel could be seen - too far away up-current for those wanting to spend time on the main site. Several swim-throughs greeted the divers at all depths, but the current could catch the unwary and blow them into the wreck or off the site so serious penetration was not an option on this our last dive. A pair on the second wave managed the transition to the adjacent wreck, and all divers returned happy to have managed a wreck dive on the last active morning on the expedition. A brief visit to Paradise Corner to try to get some manta time in bore no fruit and the team returned to Male resigned to the fact that time lost at the beginning of the expedition robbed many of their first Manta sighting. A little later, Mike did a variation on crystal juggling that resulted in 8 divers being stranded on the sun-deck while dinner cooled, and a late shopping trip to Male for some reminded them that wearing shoes after being so long barefoot was painful on the feet even after only 200mtrs or so on solid ground. |
What wreck!
