Cats Needing Homes

Cats and kittens come to us for all sorts or reasons – they may be stray/abandoned, their owners may be genuinely unable to keep them or many are simply unwanted.

All our adult cats are housed in purpose built luxurious garden ‘chalets’ at the homes of local ‘foster owners’. Each cat (unless they come in as a pair) has his/her own ‘pen’, separated from his/her neighbour by a sneeze barrier to minimise the risk of infection.  The chalets are heated and the cats also have a heated bed to snuggle in. They all have individual outside runs.

Kittens, pregnant queens and nursing mums are kept indoors in ‘kitten rooms’ (often an adapted spare bedroom.)

Before going to new homes, cats are health-checked (and treated if necessary) for fleas, worms and ear-mites. Stray and un-neutered cats are tested for FeLV and FIV. All cats over six months are neutered prior to homing.

The number of cats at each ‘foster home’ is strictly limited, to allow for individual attention to be given to each cat.

These are a few of the cats needing homes this month (January 2002).

Lucy needs a kind and loving permanent home. This wonderful 11-year old cat has sadly lost her last owner to old age. She is as playful as a kitten and can be seen chasing her tail in the photos of her in a foster home taken recently. She is neutered, litter-trained and in excellent all round health, although she cannot jump very high any more! Given a cuddle, she will return the affection with her 'singing' purr!
